Overwatch 2’s upcoming support hero, Wuyang, has reportedly had his abilities leaked ahead of his hero trial taking place from August 14th to 18th, 2025.
Reports share that the hero’s weapon, kit and perks were shared through a Blizzard survey, giving players a glimpse into what to expect from the hero shooter’s 44th character.
Here is a full breakdown of his alleged abilities. It is important to note that these may be subject to change when the support hero arrives in August.
- Weapon
- Xuanwu Staff: Fire a damaging water orb. Hold to control its trajectory and empower its explosion.
- Restorative Stream: Place a passive healing stream on an ally. Hold on the target to manually heal at an improved rate, consuming resource.
- Abilities
- Guardian Wave: Sends a water wave forward that increases the amount of healing received by allies and knocks enemies back.
- Rushing Torrent: Ride water to move faster and jump higher.
- Ultimate
- Tidal Blast: protect an ally or yourself with water that detonates after a short duration. The explosion knocks down enemies and massively heals the host target.
- Passive
- Role – Support: begin regenerating health more quickly.
- Minor perks
- Overflow: Gain 10 ammo and 33% healing resource when rushing Torrent is activated.
- Balance: When you deal damage with water orbs, increase Restorative Stream’s passive healing by 40% for two seconds.
- Major perks
- Ebb and Flow: Guardian Wave rewinds to its starting location. Deals 50% decreased damage while rewinding.
- Falling Rain: Simultaneously control three water orbs that deal 60% decreased damage and have 25% decreased empowered explosion radius.
A look at Wuyang’s in-game model, alongside his character profile for the hero select screen, was also revealed through the survey.
How Will Wuyang Fair in the Overwatch 2 Meta?
If these leaks are to be believed, Wuyang could prove to be quite formidable. His high healing output, combined with his mobility and damage, can be useful in brawl, poke and potentially dive comps.
His biggest weakness, however, is the lack of self-healing, which may prove troublesome in terms of survivability. Characters like Kiriko, Lucio, and Ana have proven to be popular picks in the esports scene because they can also be self-sufficient.
Whether he will shake up the meta and replace some of the most popular characters in competitive play remains to be seen. Fans can familiarise themselves with the character in his hero trial in August, and when he fully releases in Season 18 later this year.
